Account Setup

Get your account set up and ready to send your first messages

Account setup is completed by the first user invited to your new CustomerText account. Below is what to expect so you can prepare and move through the process quickly.

What Happens During Account Setup

The goal of account setup is to get your organization registered properly and your phone number verified so that you can begin texting right after the onboarding call.

What to Prepare

Gather these items before starting account setup to speed up the process:

  • Payment method — credit card or billing information
  • W-9 — completed for your organization
  • Organization details — legal name, address, website URL, EIN
  • Phone bill — recent bill showing the number you want to text-enable

Note: if we are assigning you a local phone number, a toll free number, or a short code, you won't need to upload a phone bill or sign the LOA.

Account Setup Steps

Step 1: Payment Setup

Add your payment details.

Step 2: W-9 Submission

Submit a W-9 form for your organization. This is required for phone number registration and compliant with carrier regulations.

Step 3: Organization Details

Confirm your organization's information as it appears on your W-9 — business name, address, website, and contact details.

Step 4: Phone Bill Upload

If you would like to text from your landline or voip, please upload a recent phone bill for the phone number you want to text-enable. This verifies ownership of the number and is required by carriers for the registration process.

Step 5: Letter of Authorization (LOA)

Sign and submit a Letter of Authorization giving us permission to use the selected phone number for text enablement. This process does not disrupt your voice connection or setup with your phone provider.

Step 6: Phone Number Verification

Your phone number goes through the carrier verification process. This includes registering your number for messaging which ensures high deliverability, reliability, and that messages are not flagged as spam. Verification typically takes a few business days.

Step 7: Invite Your Team

Add team members to your account so they can access the platform, send messages, and manage customers. Navigate to User Management to invite users.

After Account Setup

Once your account is set up and your phone number is verified, you are ready to prepare for your Onboarding call.
