Text Flyer

Send a mobile flyer to all or a portion of your opted-in customers

Text flyers let you send rich media messages — images, PDFs, or other visual content — directly to your customers' phones. Instead of a plain text message, a text flyer delivers a visual asset alongside your message, making it ideal for promotions, event announcements, menus, and any communication that benefits from a visual element.

Key Features

MMS Rich Media Delivery

Text flyers are sent as MMS messages, which means they can include images, PDFs, GIFs, and other media files alongside your text. This combines the immediacy of SMS with the visual impact of a flyer or graphic.

Asset Library Integration

Upload and manage your media files in the Asset Library. When composing a text flyer, select from your existing assets or upload a new file directly. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, GIF, and PDF.

Audience Targeting

Send your text flyer to specific contact groups or your entire contact list. Target the right audience for each piece of visual content — send a menu update to your "Dining" group or an event flyer to your "Event Attendees" group.

Scheduling

Schedule text flyers to send at a specific date and time. Plan your visual campaigns in advance and coordinate with events, promotions, or seasonal announcements.

How to Create a Text Flyer

Step 1: Prepare Your Media

Create or gather the visual asset you want to send. Keep file sizes reasonable for fast loading on mobile devices — images under 1 MB work best. Use clear, high-contrast designs that are readable on small screens.

Step 2: Upload to Asset Library

Navigate to the Asset Library and upload your file, or upload it directly during campaign creation. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, GIF, and PDF.

Step 3: Create the Campaign

Go to Campaigns and click Create Campaign. Select Text Flyer as the campaign type.

Step 4: Compose Your Message

Write the text that accompanies your flyer. Keep it short — the visual does the heavy lifting. Include a clear call to action: a link, a phone number, or a keyword to text.

Example message:

Check out our upcoming events this month! See the attached flyer for details. Reply RSVP to reserve your spot.

Step 5: Attach Your Media

Select the image, PDF, or other file from the Asset Library or upload a new one. Preview how the message will appear on a mobile device.

Step 6: Choose Your Audience

Select the customer group or groups that should receive this text flyer.

Step 7: Schedule or Send

Choose to send immediately or schedule for a future date and time. Review the message, media attachment, and audience before confirming.

Digital Business Card

Send a customer card or vCard as an MMS attachment so customers can save your organization's information directly to their phone.

PDF Document Distribution

Distribute documents like meeting agendas, policy updates, or registration forms directly via text:

Hi {first_name}, please review the attached agenda for next week's meeting. Reply with any questions.

When to Use MMS vs SMS

Not every message needs an image. Use the right format for the content:

Use MMS (Text Flyer) When... Use SMS (Custom Bulk Message) When...
The visual adds information the text cannot convey (menus, flyers, maps) The message is purely informational (hours, alerts, reminders)
You are promoting an event and have a designed graphic You are sending a quick update or announcement
You are distributing a document (agenda, form, policy) The message is under 160 characters and needs no attachment
The visual will drive action (coupon, QR code, poster) You want to maximize credit efficiency (1 credit vs 2)

Cost consideration: MMS messages cost 2 credits per customer instead of 1. A text flyer to 2,000 customers costs 4,000 credits. If the visual does not meaningfully improve the message, send an SMS with a link instead.

Designing Effective Text Flyers

Mobile-First Design

Your flyer will be viewed on a phone screen 4-6 inches wide. Design accordingly:

  • Use large, readable text — minimum 24pt for headlines, 16pt for body text
  • High contrast — dark text on light backgrounds (or vice versa). Avoid light gray on white
  • Simple layouts — one clear message per flyer. Avoid cramming multiple offers or dense text
  • Portrait orientation — fills the screen without requiring rotation

Text + Image Redundancy

Not all devices and carriers render MMS images the same way. Some customers may see the text but not the image. Always include the key information in both:

  • In the text: date, time, location, call to action, link
  • In the image: the same information plus visual branding

The text message should be fully actionable even if the image does not load.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Keep images under 1 MB for fast delivery and loading. Large files may fail to send or display slowly on older devices.
  • Design for mobile first. Use large text, high contrast, and simple layouts. Your flyer will be viewed on a phone screen, not a desktop monitor.
  • Include a call to action in both the text and the image. Not all devices display images the same way, so the text should stand on its own.
  • Use PNG or JPEG for photos and graphics. PDF works well for multi-page documents like agendas or forms.
  • Preview your message before sending by using the Inbox to send a test to yourself.
  • Remember that MMS uses 2 credits per customer instead of 1. Factor this into your campaign planning for large groups.
  • Avoid third-party URL shorteners like bit.ly in your text message — carriers filter them. Use the platform's built-in link tracking instead.

Common Questions

What file types can I attach to a text flyer?

Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, GIF, and PDF. Check the Asset Library for the full list of supported file types.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes. Keep files under 1 MB for reliable delivery. Larger files may not send successfully to all carriers and devices.

Can I send a text flyer with multiple images?

Each text flyer supports one media attachment per message. If you need to send multiple images, consider creating a follow-up message with the second image or combining images into a single graphic.

Can I track who viewed the flyer?

MMS messages show delivery status but do not track whether the attachment was opened. For tracking engagement, include a shortened link in your message text and use Link Tracking.
